I skipped Quote Thursday again. Not that it matters. I'm losing my thunder when it comes to blogging. Not to throw a pity party, but I realized I'm the only one that reads my blog. Ha. I just need a spark to get re-motivated to continue blogging.
Have a nice night all (myself)!

Late Night Alien Battle
I went to the midnight release of Transformers last night. Despite some of the poor reviews, I enjoyed it.... correction, it was amazing! I liked the first one better, but this one was still great. We didn't get out of the movie until 3am and I worked at 6am, so I am extremely tired but I think it was well worth it.
My brother turned 21 last night and instead of going to the bar, we went to the movie. Tonight we're going to the bar. We'll see if he likes the one I pick...

A Day For Fathers
Today was of course Father's Day. Went to my Grandpa's house and had lunch with the whole family. It was very enjoyable.
And of course, I played softball tonight. My team is a bunch of poor sports haha. Every little thing upsets them. It doesn't help that our Ump was totally lame. But I played a good game at least.

I went for a run after that and realized that I need to do that more. Wow I'm out of shape. I used to run 5 miles, now I'm struggling.
Aren't you glad I shared my day with you?

New Additions
Bought two new movies today. Step Brothers and the Donnie Darko sequel call S. Darko. I've seen Step Brothers, and loved it. We'll see how S. Darko is.

Number Two
Even though I posted my entry for the day (aka quote Thursday) I wanted to post a life update. It's been a week since I put up and update. My bad. Busy, busy week. Worked a shift at the FD on Monday. Saw "The Hangover" on Sunday and Tuesday...yeah it's that good. Check it out! It's too funny.
Other than that, I've been working all week and trying to catch up on sleep.
Lily and I went to the dog park for 2 hours today. Then we practiced walking on the leash. I'm getting sick or her pulling, so I'm trying a new training, and it's working great. Today she learned "heel"... and... "play dead"! I'm very excited. I've been trying "play dead" with her for two weeks, but she got it now. Very exciting.
Work in the morning.... boo...

My Bad...But Metric Did It
My apologies - I skipped the Thursday quote. Next week I promise. I skipped it for good reason though... I went to the Metric concert last night. Hell Yeah! It was sweet!

I felt that I couldn't miss their US tour, so I went. Started at 8pm and got home at 1am, only to wake up for work at 5am. Still totally worth it. And since I'm such a stud, I went to the concert alone, which was nice cause it was packed. They put on one hell of a show. Major energy.
Check the pics (thanks to the new LG Dare)

Either way, if you haven't checked out Metric you should.

Ready For Wednesday Excitement?
New phone is working nicely. I got the Sims3 app for it since I can't get it for my computer. Lame. Not quite as fun as the real game I'm sure, but a good time killer.
Paid day = shopping day. I went to Petsmart, and food shopping. Also got an oil change. I lead such an amazing life!

New Phone... I Dare You
I got a new phone today. I love it, but I'm not sure I can justify (or afford) a $100 phone. But anyway... I got the LG Dare. It's not too shabby. Touch screen, Internet, bells AND whistles. Almost too much phone for me. But I can take killer pictures now, so that will be helpful.
Metric is coming to town Thursday. I want to go, but we'll see if I can finagle my hours.
Nothing new, just expect some new pictures since I got the new phone. Luck you!

Lazy Sunday
What a lazy Sunday. I took a day of vacation time yesterday and stayed busy, so today I was mostly lazy. I cleaned my room/bathroom. That took forever. It was a mess. Then I made mac and cheese because I was too lazy to really cook. Messed around on YouTube for a few hours and then it was off to my softball game.
I played very well. We all did. We won 20-16. I hit three times (3 for 3) with a triple. And made a few catches in center.
Came home. Played with Lily, and now I'm here. Not a bad day. Work at the FD tomorrow... I'll let you know how that goes. Goodnight to all!

Quote You Are My Soul, Unquote
In the spirit of the new Transformers movie I'll take a quote from the movie trailer.
"Fate rarely calls upon us at a moment of our choosing." -Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen
"The moon is a guidepost to those that search in the darkness of the night." -Chrono Cross
"I am able to feel you in a crowd of millions." -Unknown

No rain today. It wasn't a bad day, but it wasn't that great. Just an average Wednesday, of course. Tomorrow will be busy, So I'll keep this short.

The Continue...

It rained all day again today. That kept me in a very good mood for the whole day. It feels like a Seattle week. I love that. Maybe I should move there so I'm in a good mood all the time...
People are always telling me that if I move there, I will get sick of the rain. But lets face it... some people find the rain beautiful, just like some find sunny days beautiful. I'm rain people. At the same time, the rain here is beautiful because it doesn't happen all the time.
I spent some time watching movie trailers this evening. I am so very excited for Transformers. Unbelievably excited. I'll be going to the midnight showing for sure, even though I work at 0600 that morning. Worth it!
The Sims 3 came out today. I was very excited to get that game, but sad news.... My computer is three years old. You know what that means... The game wont run on my computer. Sad day. So now I need to save money to update my computer. Not just for the Sims 3 (although that is my main reason for wanting to do it as of now) but also because I need more out of my computer. It's going to be tough saving money with rent, new car (payment), puppy bills, and everything that comes before luxuries.
On a side note: I got one of those "mass friend requests" on Myspace from a band called Klum. I hate when bands do that. It's never a band I enjoy. I normally just delete the requests when I get them, but I thought I'd humor them and listen to one song. Um yeah... turns out I love them. Very cool band with a very unique sound. Guess I was wrong this time...

The Best

The last two days have been great. It's rained SO much! Yesterday it rained all night, today it has rained all day. Nothing puts me in a better mood than a big rain storm. The only problem was that my softball game was cancelled yesterday. But the rain was worth it.
Today I worked at the fire department and had two medical calls. I made burgers for the crew. I'm pretty sure they loved them because everyone was too busy eating to talk during lunch. That's rare for a fire house. Must be my secret recipe.
The local police department asked me to fill in for a missing player at their softball game. So, I got to play this weekend after all. The best part is that we played the whole game in the rain. Nice! But, I couldn't get a base hit to save my life. That's rare for me. Oh well it was fun and my defence was okay despite the rain and wet glove.
I just watched the first part of the new Tonight Show. Looks very promising. Funny stuff.
Lets hope the week continues like the way it's going!

It's Late
And I have to work tomorrow. Lame. If only I could sleep.... All in good time.
I discovered I really enjoy The bands Metric and Mum. I just bought several new songs by both bands today. I've loved Mum for a few years now, but now I love the new songs.
What else... something deep and meaningful... but alas, I have nothing.
Totally random note... in....3...2...1...
I'm very excited about Sims 3 coming out next week. I might buy it and wait to play it when I get a new computer. Just having the game will make me happy. A couple new books I want are coming out in August...now I wait. I did get new books from ebay and the package arrived today. Guess I'll read some of those until August.
Okay, time to try the sleep thing again. We'll see if it works.

Two Quotes From Me And One From Him
It's Thursday... here you go:
"The defining moments in our lives are never planned." - Unknown
"In order for me to do better next time, one thing is essential: to survive this time." - Ashleigh Brillant
My brother suggested this next one for me to use this week:
"Whether I shall turn out to be the hero of my own life, or whether that station will be held by anybody else, these pages must show." -David Copperfield by Charles Dickens

Life Wears You Down
The other day I found a note that said "Nothing can wear you down more completely than life."
At first I didn't think much of it. But as the day wore on, I found myself thinking more and more about the quote. It felt like one sentence had summed it all up.
I first thought that it seemed to be a negative statement. Life struggles and hard ships taking a toll on us. The hard parts in life itself wear people down. In many ways, it is true. It is very draining when something bad happens. It can physically wear you down.
Then the thought occurred to me that it might not be a completely negative sentence. Sometimes good thing can wear you down. The happy and fun moments can be tiring, for all the right reasons. Surprises and major events take their tolls on people but not always in a negative way. For example: having a new baby... Very happy and positive, but I've heard that can wear a person down pretty quick... Not in a bad way, but in a selfless love and joyful way.
So I had determined that the sentence was true. One sentence to summed it up. Still, I continued to think about it... was there more meaning behind it?
"Nothing can wear you down more completely than life"
Wear like shaping? Like when water shapes a mountain by wearing it down? Okay, let's run with this. Bare with me...
Maybe this sentence could also mean nothing can shape you more completely than life. That makes sense. Life continues to shape who we are. Experiences, both good and bad, shape who we are, who we were, and who we will become. So life it's self wears us down to the person we are. Interesting theory.
Anyway, just wanted to share what's been on my mind lately

The Big Scary... Beauitful, Wonderfull....Internet
The Internet is scary now. I can see what everyone in the world is doing at any given time. Information is endless. Live updates. Live feeds. Blogs and Tweets. The books and the spaces. Searches bring thousands of results. It is amazing, wonderful, overwhelming, and beautiful.
How much longer until it is crazy to pick up a book and read? I personally love sitting with a book and getting into it. I'm not looking forward to the day that all books are in electronic format. Not to say that will ever happen, but who am I to predict the future?
When is that last time you bought a CD? I think it's been years since I have. Itunes and my Ipod are always near by. Things are changing...fast!
And here I am on the bandwagon...this blog. My YouTube account. Myspace and Facebook. I'm not saying I don't like all of it. I love it. But I was thinking about my years in grade school and trying to do research projects... I didn't really do them because it was too hard. Now days, it takes a quick stop at Wikipedia and *ding* project complete. Where was Wikipedia when I was researching European history?
Even shopping is different. Ebay, online store, Craigslist. So easy and so quick.
I'm glad I have some experiences from the "pre-internet" era, so I can be one of those old guys that gets to say, "Back in my day..."
Just a random thought

Turns out, it's about my Mom
I had to skip my posting for yesterday because I got 'volun-told' I'd be working a 16 hour day. Seeing no other option, I worked 16 hours yesterday. I'm super tired today (having to work another 8 hours today) but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
My main concern was Lily. I didn't want to leave her in her kennel for that long (because I love her and I'm not cruel). Of course, room mate took this week to go out of town...figures. Thankfully, my Mom came over and stayed with Lily all afternoon. What would I do without Mom?!
Make sure you hug your Mom's today. They are amazing. Even after moving out years ago, she is still willing to make the drive over to help me. Of course, she loves her "grand-puppy" (as she calls her) so that helps too. I've been very blessed to have the Mom that I do have. If I had an extra week to explain how much she means to me or has done for me, I still wouldn't have time to express it all. My Mom is a living saint.
Ever since my brother and I were little, she has always made our lives amazing. She was always willing to drop everything for us. Holidays were always the most special... My mom managed to make holidays amazing, always. She always put extra effort in the small things... pocket burgers, St. Patrick's Day candy, Easter baskets, Santa, birthdays, etc.
There was always the Thanksgiving day left down thought... cook all day...then the three boys (including my dad in that number) would eat quick and leave. We learned to eat slower on T-day when one year she took us to a restaurant instead. Ha ha. Just wasn't the same.
Even still, holidays were (and still are) one of the things that I will always love my mom for. I only dream I can make holidays half that special for my kids.
One thing about my Mom that is unique is that she is truly selfless. She was all for us growing up. In someways it still is. I leave my parents house with food for weeks. But not just food...movies, toys, if I point to it and say I like it, it will most likely be sent home with me.
I wish I could say I'm that selfless. In many ways, I know I have that trait from my Mom, but not quite to her degree. Once again, she's a saint.
I remember school shopping, garage sales, countless dinners/band-aids/hugs, driving me to school, watching my baseball games, coming to my "bands" gigs, the swords in the laundry basket, her eyes, 'shopping buddies', graduations... really I could go on forever.
This blog started as me typing about my day, and ending sharing a very special person with you. But we've only scratched the surface regarding my Mom.
For now it's nap time....

Quote Thursday!
'What is quote Thursday' you ask. I decided each Thursday I would share three quotes with you. Some will match my mood for the week, some will just be a few of my favorites.
Here's todays:
"Take a deep breath and pray for a second one." -Splender
"It is better to have me and not need me, than to need me and not have me" -Unknown
"Can we try and take the high road though we do know where it ends?" -Third Eye Blind

The Wednesday
Quick and simple day... Work started far too early. Had to work with a "substiute partner", however she was very fun and I enjoyed it. Typical problems came to annoy me again, but today I brushed them off.
Got home and decided to take Lily for a walk at a nearby park. She loved it. I loved it. The lake is very peaceful midafternoon when no one else is there. The 90 degree weather took a break to allow some rain as we walked. We walked the mile around the lake and then threw a ball around for while.

Thanks to the walk Lily fell asleep when we got home, allowing me a nice long nap as well. Cooked, cleaned, relaxed, and now I find myself on my blog again... Weird how I was drawn to it...
All in all, it was another normal Wednesday. Just like it will be again next week.

The First Blog...Ever
I decided to try something new... well, new to me. Everyone is doing written blogs, video blogs or Twitter. In some case people are doing all the above and then some. Without wanting to totally jump on the wagon, I did want to find a hobby. Something expressive (which is why I'm sure everyone blogs now days).
I tried the video blog using YouTube...but of course, my life is too boring for anyone to watch. Or because I only had two videos. Ha! I think the real reason I gave up on that was the whole working two jobs, getting a puppy (main reason) and trying to survive life. I would like to start the video blog up again sometime, but for now I'll try this. I love to write so this might be a good place to start. For the record, my YouTube page is www.youtube.com/silverinthenight Not much up yet... a video from the fire department I work for and one of my puppy (Lily for all future references) blowing bubbles in her waterbowl.
So we'll see how active I become on this blog. I have no hopes that it will be read by anyone, but it will be my way to put myself in the history of this generation. My 'healthy' carobn footprint.
